Adventure Resume + Extra Randomness
You can tell a lot about a person by what they do in their spare time.
I tell people I crave adventure like most people crave chocolate and that's true. I also crave challenges, learning new things and meeting people who match my "crazy." Here are just a few of my adventures:
- Cross-country skiing in the Arctic circle, sleeping in tents in the snow with strangers and seeing the Northern Lights daily.
- Learning to sail in the Atlantic Ocean, despite being prone to seasickness, have since sailed to the Faroe Islands and to the British and U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Trekked to Everest Base Camp in Nepal successfully.
- Trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru
- Triathlons - 3 Sprint and 1 Olympic
- 8 Half Marathons
- 1 Marathon

Quirky & Fun Out of Office Emails
When I'm out on vacation, I like to do more than just the standard, "Out of Office" emails. I actually got this idea from HubSpot years ago and ran with it. My colleagues LOVE them and even look forward to them. Here are just a few from the last few years.
Freezing in Nebraska
Oh, this is awkward: You’ve caught me away from my desk and out of the office.
I’m in Omaha, Nebraska (don't be jealous, the current temperature is about 15 degrees - considered a heat wave here) until Wednesday, Jan 16th, and I know I’m supposed to say I have limited access to email but the truth is, the WiFi works just fine here #SorryNotSorry.
I’m just focusing on meeting my new niece and babysitting 2 others instead of my inbox. Once I’m back, I look forward to embracing WiFi again and following up with you.
In case of an emergency*, you can slack me or text me at ***-***-***. You can also send an email to marianne@*****.com, but just know that if you email, my response may not come until later in the day after my nieces have gone to bed.
Have an amazing day,
Marianne
*Emergency can be defined as:
- ‘The Bachelorette’ returned my phone call and they LOVED my audition tape
- They’ve replaced salted almonds with unsalted almonds (i.e. no salt) in the office break room
- I was tagged in an unflattering photo on Facebook
- You won the lottery and need someone to split the winnings with because it’s simply too much money for one person
Knee-deep in Sushi 🍣 & Shrines
- It’s an island in the Pacific Ocean - but not Hawaii
- It’s in the future, 15 hours into the future in fact or at least 15 hours ahead of Salt Lake City.
- It is known for having the most vending machines in the world
